Check out the music made by Matt:
gameloop1.mp3 [2.08 Mb]
gameloop2.mp3 [1.91 Mb]

Both files are ~2 minute loops.
- I'll say first file is good enough for ingame race, like it has 4 loops inside.
Do you all agree with me? so I can mark this song as Ingame-Race.
- And for second file, hmm... I think little over the top for racing game, more for spaceship shooter...
A normal song will not have the time to finish in short time races, so I choose loops for racing time and songs for menus.

I think we need:
Inmenu: at least 3 songs (for each language selection)
Ingame-Race: 5-10 will be ok
Ingame-Garage: Just a few, something easy and quiet
Inanim: for all animations, something inspiring
...

Nice!

I have to agree with everything what you wrote!

And, I've got a couple of instrumentals by Contra Dekorum, maybe for animations, maybe for the menu...
BTW, the guys from Contra Dekorum singed a cotract with us allowing us to use all songs they recorded (8 or 9 songs...)

And everyone else, lets hear some comments on the music.

(please name the loop you are reviewing)

-what did you most like about the loop?

-what did you most dislike about the loop?

Matt, great work!

Gameloop1:
Nice work, love the sound, and the bass kicks...

Gameloop3:
Hm, too much metal echo... If you know what I mean...

Hello Matt!!
Heres my opinion and excuse my spelling!
I think you got the Hiscore and menu music perfectly for the game.
Gameloops are great, nice to hear end so on, but i dont know how would they fit into a racing game... i really dont feel them in game (except gameloop3), so for the style of music i would suggest something more ambiental (for example some good old electro with maybe alien beeps and stuff or maybe even tropical style?) or something more aggressive (something that will pump you up.... like Prodigy  )

But, that is just my opinion, I could be wrong....
BTW I most enjoyed gameloop 3 and 4.

Hello,

gameloop1: [07 / 10]
It's ok, nice rhythm.
[For race!]

gameloop2:
Too hard, as I mentioned before, great for some space game.
[not for game]

gameloop3: [10 / 10]
Just great!
[For race!]

gameloop4: [08 / 10]
This is not a loop (it is but to hard pass)
[For race!] but still needs to be fixed or stretched to few minutes(for menu)

garageloop1: [09 / 10]
Great for some arcade game, but still, useful for menu.
It's not a loop.
[For menu!]

highscoreloop_orcreditsloop: [10 / 10]
I love this one!!! Also, it would be more for some arcade game, I would like it for Gink ;)
Not a loop.
[For HS, if possible!]

menuloop1: [10 / 10]
Totally for Gink, can I use it for it?
Hard pass on a loop.

possiblethemesong_ormenusong: [09 / 10]
Great! Perfect type of song for this game if you ask me.
[For menu!] [Theme song!]

Hello Matt !

Songs are good but some of them need some rewritings (gameloop4, highscoreloop_orcreditsloop)
They don't have loops.. :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring to you, one of the songs i am most proud of.... This is the sixth "loop" in the series ive created, and, i am proud to present this small, smooth looping, song to you all. It is going to take some editing later to improve the quality, but here it is :) enjoy!

GAMELOOP6!!!

please rate it out of 10 and tell me what you liked most and least thanks.

p.s.(the quality is quite low for your downloading pleasure, after i get some ratings i will upload the high quality version) :D

Hi, nice one!
I like the deep bass and it would be great if it could be longer (1 min.), so you could put a little speed up between lets say 30th and 40th sec.

Hi Matt,

I like this one, too. I guess out of 10, it would be an 8. Depending on what part of the game it's in, of course.

I'm going to need some music for the Gen Stars logo animation. Are you up to it? :D

Later

igor, what do you mean by putting a speed up between 30th and 40th, do you mean increasing the tempo? or what exactly?

and max, or whatever we are supposed to call you, i have already put together short song (not really a song :-? ) that makes the sounds of planets swooshing by, but it doesnt have perfect timing yet, so maybe you could tell me which times need to be changed, or if anything at all needs to be dropped or added.

Its really not much, and it is most definately going to be changed, because the cheap tune i added is pathetic, :| and the timing is for sure off in some areas, so just tell me what you all think of it, and what you think should be fixed up. thanks. :)

click here to get the song

feel free to send any comments, good or bad, they are all welcome. thanks again

Hi Matt!

I'm thrilled that you're already working on the music for the GS logo. :D I downloaded and applied the clip to my animation. Here's what I've found:

1) You're right: the music score does not fit well.

2) the "wooshes" past the planets need some work. I suggest starting the woosh well before the planet reaches the frame and then elongating the sound well past the planet. Also, the Earth/Moon area has no woosh at all that I could hear.

3) the final sequence where the logo text is revealed should have more of an inspirational feel.

I hate to be too cliche, but the opener to Star Trek: The Next Generation comes to mind when I look at the animation. I'm thinking you should start out low and slow and build up to the sight of the text. Can you use horns in your music program?

Thanks for working on this, I really appreciate it!! :D

- David

P.S. You can call me Max, David or whatever.

yes, or add another drum in that period just to put some more dynamic to it.

max, once again im confused... what do you mean when you asked if i could use horns in the program? ive had it for a very long time, but lost the manual when i got it, so im still learning a new feature every now and then  ill check it out if you explain 'horns' a bit more. and im working on adding the dynamic inspirational feel, but its rather difficult, this is going to be my biggest most challenging project ever... ill get back with an update about 50% through.

Hi Matt,

For horns, I meant brass instruments like trombones, trumpets, and more classical instruments. I think it's cool that you're making this a big project. Take care!

Well if thats what you mean by horns, then i have tons. I have spent last night up until 2am trying to figure something good out. I deleted the old recording and have started from scratch many times. I would have thought that generation stars wouldnt have classical instruments, considering their logo is 'games for new generations' But i guess that an electronic trumpet is quite new in out generation

I cant quite figure out what to do with this, so im going to leave the picking of the instruments to all of you who are reading this now. I will leave a list of instruments and sounds i have to use, then i will ask you to make a list of about 5, give or take. Then i will make a dozen or so sample tunes that will be short, and will post them later after i get some feedback.

All you non-users, please dont overlook this, i remember people writting stuff just like this when i was younger, and i always ignored them. Please pick out a few things taht you think would go well with the intro, and then you can expect to see your chosen instruments in a quick tune you can download. Please post a reply.

CLASSICAL INSTRUMENTS
-accordeon
-bell
-harp sounding sound... :-?
-brass
-high/fine
-medium/rough
-low/rough
-low/rough electric
-ceasar(it is named that, but i'm not sure if it is actually an instrument... sounds like an accordeon in a slight way)
-cheap trumpet
-flute
-a very pathetic sounding violin(has no feeling, or emotion.)
-medival sounding brass
-organ

ELECTRIC SOUNDS
-a low sub-bass
-very bassy, low and electric
-rough bassy sound
-a creepy sound that cannot be explained, but gives you shivers if it has the right pattern to fit into....
-high/rough
-medium/really rough
-low-ish/very rough
-very low/super rough
-wind sounding sound...
-and a super highly customizable sound that i can make to sound almost like anything....(not as in, sound like a cow, or change to sound like a camera clicking, or watermelon smashing, but it is... well let me explain)--

This is called TS404. it is a panel that opens and lets me customize it greatly. I can set how fine it is, how the pitch is set, other special effects, it also has a powerful filter that can change it alot... its impossible to explain, but those of you familiar to music will know this filter to change the cut, resolution, and envelope greatly, it even comes with an alternator that will filter either the LP12, the LP24, HP or BP. There is an extra alternator that can alternate the OSC, CUT, RESOLUTION, AND POWER. Let me know what you want this customizable sound to sound like, including anything electric you want, i will add up to 4 per tune, becasue they are complicated to work with....

Well, thats about 10 percent of the instruments i have, but you could also let me know what kind of kick, hi hat, clap, or anything you want, i can custimize those to sound like... well nearly anything.

Please dont get confused by the TS404 and not reply, if the TS404 entry confused you, then just pick a few intruments and sounds out of the list and post em on, along with anyting you would like to add about the tune, thanks alot.

sry everyone, ive got some bad news... i wont have the music for the intro for quite some time, i have become caught up in a game im making, and have been considering putting together a soundtrack to publish, but i will get to this music for the intro as soon as possible, which will be a while... For the next 2 weeks until school starts, i will be doing good deeds to familiy and friends for a little side of cash, i didnt get the job up north unfortunately, so this is going to have to do. I will post back to everyone as soon as i start working on it again.
