I expect a long talk before the work even starts, so start talking!

- Who will work on Menus?
- How will they look like?
- Will we use the mouse in menus or arrow keys?
- ...

TALK HERE about everything related to the game menus...we have to collect ideas before we start working!

I think the person with the best graphic talents and animation talents should produce the menu icons. The menu is a very essential part in setting the mood of the game. A poor menu sets a poor, out of control mood. A well animated and sounding menu sets a excited, and in control mood.

For sure the mouse should be used, make a good animated cursor also.

When the cursor moves over the icons, a new animation should be shown int the place of the old button, to set a more interactive mood. Maybe even a small sound effect could be added to add even more of an interactive mood.

Players continue to play games because it puts them in good moods, and gives them a good feeling of control and relaxation. If the menu is boring and poor, then the mood of the player will be the same, maybe not exactly, but the mood will slightly swind towards out of control moods. Make sure the menu is very very well done, and easy to use and understand.

My List of games having a good menus:

First the old ones:
-Baldurs Gate 2
-Command and Conquer
-Starcraft
-Warcraft 2

Not so old ones:
-Neverwinter Nights, SoU, HotU
-Warcraft 3
-NSF (already in Nitro list)
-Rise of Nations
-DF : BHD

and others that I can't remeber...
